American Night is a film procedure for filming night scenes in a daytime.
This technigue used to create our exhibition also gave it a name
"American Night". The exhibition tells a story of 80´ which could happen
in any country of the "eastern block". In the night hours, surrounded
by gloomy reality of deserted military base.
The anonymous participants of the American Night are presented in
ambiguous situations. It is a fictional confession of life in uncertainty,
suspition and fear, confession of hopelessness, matching and pursuit,
active and passiv resistence. American Night is a simulation of
feelings of existence in dictatorship and divided world, it is authors
wiew of life like this as they imagine it. Particular times, events,
places and political regimes are not important in this case. It´s a
description of rather general meaning. Authors have chosen the
80´decade because they both grew up during this period and they
have a special relationship to these times.
